Free stuff : Metal Obsession’s Monthly Giveaway #2 (ft. Envenomed, Join the Amish + more)

By on June 6, 2014

We’re starting this a little late, but here is our second instalment of Metal Obsession’s Monthly Giveaway!

Congratulations to Jack Grieve from Kambah, ACT. You were the winner of the first giveaway, and you will have some new CD’s and a t-shirt in the mail soon!

We have a lot to offer in this months giveaway, including a special t-shirt/vinyl pack from Melbourne’s Join the Amish. Their debut EP ‘The Rumspringa Diaries’ was #6 on a best Australian albums of 2013 list on Metal Obsession, and this is your chance to win it on 12″ vinyl. Their logo t-shirts are available in black or white, from size small to extra large. Check out the “karaoke” video below for their anti-Shane Warne anthem “Sheik of Tweak”.

Also up for grabs, we have the following Australian (and sort-of Australian) CD’s/vinyl released this year.

Envenomed (VIC) – Evil Unseen (CD, Independent)
It only took Melbourne melodic-thrash group Envenomed 9 years, but they have finally released their debut album. And far out, it is a belter. Listen: “Mechanical Enemy”

“Envenomed don’t have anything to hide here. The cards are out on the table and they’ve dealt out a royal flush. The album is both dynamic and universal. And when I say ‘universal’, by that I mean there is enough variety and interest across this album that it should appeal to wide array of listeners.” – Metal Obsession (read review here)

OGRE (NSW / Ireland) – Bastards of Death (CD, Independent)
Yes, you read that right, Ireland. Formed in 1989, OGRE are one of Ireland’s first death metal bands. Now, with half of the band located in Sydney and the other half still at home, the Dark Lords of Doom have returned with a new album, ‘Bastards of Death’.
Listen: “Brain Driller”

The Autumn League (NSW) – Concept of Irony (CD, Independent)
The debut album from atmospheric black/death metal group The Autumn League is one continuous journey, segueing between atmospheric heavy stuff, and quieter reflective moments. Definitely a journey that’s worth taking.
Listen: “Hope and Despair / Lament”

Dejan Toracki (QLD) – Atmospheric Disturbance (CD, Into the Pit)
We already have an Into the Pit Records competition running with 4 classic Aussie metal albums reissued on CD. But here is the label’s other release, and the only new one; the stunning second album from instrumental metal guitarist Dejan Toracki. As Andrew Haug says, this is Australia’s best kept secret, but not for long…
Preview album here.

Atomic Death Squad (VIC) – S/T (7″ vinyl, Independent)
Thugging 3-piece crossover thrash attack from Melbourne in the vain of D.R.I.Nuclear Assault and Cryptic Slaughter. The ADS clique bring humor, aggression and narcissism to a whole new level of crossover insanity.
Listen: “Atomic Death Squad”

Requiem (VIC) – Mass of the Dead (CD, Independent)
After two years of impressing audiences around Victoria, Ararat’s Requiem are finally releasing an EP. The EP isn’t out for two weeks, and no songs have been posted online yet, but you can check out this teaser from the studio here, as well as details for their EP launch gig here.
