News : Slayer get slayed at Sydney Soundwave festival
As I’m sure most of the metal community are aware SLAYER recently cancelled their appearance at the Sydney Soundwave festival due to lead singer and bassist, Tom Araya being diagnosed with a severe ear infection.
Tom’s wife Sandra Araya later posted on her Facebook, saying that Tom was “suffering from vertigo due to extreme dehydration and lack of rest.” Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah has assured fans and patrons attending the Melbourne Soundwave festival on Friday, 4th March that Tom Araya will be ready to play with Slayer.
CONTRIVE drummer and national radio host of “The Racket”, Andrew Haug had the tough task of informing Slayer fans that the band would not be playing at Sydney’s Soundwave festival. It didn’t take long before Slayer “fans” ripped off their Slayer t-shirts, burnt them and yell abuse, bottles and even a trash can towards the stage and Andrew Haug.
Numerous videos of the incident have sprouted up on Youtube leaving many unsure if Slayer will ever return to Sydney after the childish attitude displayed by the supposed “fans”.
This isn’t the only medical dilemma Slayer are experiencing at the moment. Founding guitarist, Jeff Hanneman was forced to sit out of the Soundwave festival tour due to a severe arm infection.
