By on October 22, 2019

Western Australia’s Tempest Rising has recently forged a unique sound with the release of the band’s new album Alter Ego. Since 2012 the band has toured extensively, creating powerfully engaging live shows with their expanding fan base in Australia. This will no doubt be further expanded with the release of the groove-laden new release Alter Ego. The album is currently available digitally from all leading music outlets, plus bricks and mortar music outlets JB Hi-Fi.

The second single ‘Ghosts’ hit streaming services back in May this year. Click here to start streaming.

The album was engineered and mixed by Chaos Divine‘s Simon Mitchell, and features a perfect mix of songwriting and production. Case in point, the album’s first taster Breathe and current single Ghosts.

Unfortunately, so sombre news follows the release of the new album with long-time drummer, Matty James leaving the band. Tempest Rising released the following statement on their official Facebook page.

We announce that our long-time drummer and friend Matty James is going to be leaving us.

As you all know, Matty is a phenomenal drummer and we absolutely hate to see him go. You’ve got to follow your own aspirations and we totally respect him and his decision to leave. Matty James’ skill behind the kit has been crucial in transforming Tempest Rising into the band we are today and for this, we can never fully thank him. His dedication to his craft and to the band over the years has been uncompromising, allowing us to achieve some amazing things. We have toured Australia, Europe and Japan together as well as creating and recording our album Alter Ego. The countless adventures we have been through together will never be forgotten.

Please join us in wishing Matty the absolute best in his future endeavours.

P.S. As of this moment Matty will continue playing for Tempest Rising until we find a suitable replacement.
