News : Stormrider Festival 2017: Everything You Need To Know

By on March 19, 2017
It’s not long now till the massive, annual  Stormrider Festival hits Perth and is gearing up to celebrate our love of Power, Thrash, Speed, Prog and Traditional Heavy Metal ……and Viking Folk! Now in its fourth year, the annual festival has grown to become one of the most important dates on the Australian metal calendar.
Growing in size and stature year on year since it’s inception, Stormrider has gained attention from metal scene worldwide! This year the event will be held at The Badlands Bar in Perth, WA on Saturday, March 25 and will feature eleven of the nation’s top metal bands, five local Perth acts and six from around the nation, the most interstate bands the line up has featured yet! Playing across two stages and kicking off at 6.00pm, it’s a non stop shred fest into the small hours.

Headlining the day are Australia’s top power metallers, the mighty Silent Knight who have a stack of international touring dates lined up for the Euro summer too!
They have just released a live video from last year’s Festival too
Check out Power Metal Supreme!

Making the trek west for the first time, Sydney’s own Viking warriors, Bane Of Isildur will pillage and plunder their way through their epic slabs of pure, triumphant war metal and Odin help anyone standing in their way!

Melbourne’s heavy metal masters Elm Street will be showcasing their new collection of fist-pumping anthems from their second album ‘Knock Em Out…With A Metal Fist’ which was released last June to western metallers for the first time too! Elm Street will also be touring the UK shortly with ex Manowar axe slinger, Ross The Boss!

Melbourne speed metal young guns, Espionage killed it at SRF 2015 and are once again bringing their energetic live show, soaring vocals and twin guitar harmonies that are reminiscent of the glory days of 80’s metal!
One of the nation’s best live bands, Brisbane’s kings of thrash, Malakyte are prepping for the follow up to their debut album Human Resonance which will see them push the envelope further. Be ready to snap your neck!

Combining thrash, prog, power and neo classical metal influences, Adelaide’s Shadow Realm are beginning to turn heads all over the country. Shredding guitars meet jazz drumming and operatic vocals. Whats not to love?!
With aggressive riffing, killer vocals and powerful drumming, Brisbane thrashers Asylum will leave you feeling mentally insane and physically exhausted! Local Perth lads, Bounty Hunter have honed their cross over thrash attack and are ready to make you believe its the early 90s all over again!

Pairing soaring melodies with blistering speed and sledgehammer aggression, Perth up and comers, Remission have the ambition and drive to take on the world! Australia’s finest purveyors of viking folk metal, Claim The Throne have been building their empire for over a decade. The Perth quintet will be treating their hometown crowd to a very rare, very special acoustic set of their classics.
The guys will also be heading to Jakarta to play the Hammersonic Festival, headlined by Megadeth!
Bringing Stormrider 2017 to an epic close, Perth trio Agnesis will deliver a set of prog/alt metal goodness at the official after party kicking off at midnight!
