Wollongong’s Segression are this year celebrating their 20th anniversary. Having been a staple of the Australian heavy music scene since 1996, this year will spell a lot of exciting fresh happenings from the band.

Returning to their past albums, the band will be re-recording select fan and personal favourites; allowing for a whole new modern studio feel. 2016 will mark a significant change to Segression’s output, with the band opting out of recording traditional full-length albums, and instead will be releasing more frequent singles and groups of songs.

Come this November/December, Segression will also be heading out on the road for a handful of shows in Australia with their old friends, Melbourne nu-metal act Superheist – who are returning to the live arena after an extended absence, with their new vocalist Ezekiel Ox.

Friday, October 28: The Basement, Canberra “Metal Fiesta”
Friday, November 4: The Factory, Sydney – with Seuperheist
Saturday, November 5: The Zoo, Brisbane

Presented by Beat Magazine, Dinner For Wolves, and Wild Thing Presents, you can find tickets through Wild Thing Presents, Oztix, and the venues.

One of Australia’s greatest heavy music success stories of the last two decades, Segression, are celebrating their 20th Anniversary in 2016!
Formed in 1996 in their hometown of Wollongong on the NSW south coast, Segression have achieved more than they ever dreamt of. A humble grass roots following quickly escalated into a global fanbase.
Across six well received and critically acclaimed albums; L.I.A (1996), 5th of the 5th (1997), Smile (2000), Segression (2002) Never Dead (2011) and Painted In Blood (2014), the band garnered the attention of labels such as Road Runner, Murder Machine Records and
Warner Music, and toured nationally and abroad with acts such as…Ozzy Osbourne, Slipknot, Pantera, Machine Head, Soulfly, Cradle of Filth, Fozzy, Strapping Young Lad and Fear Factory.
Segression have never been afraid to try new things and improve on their sound, this is evident on their most recent release, 2014’s Painted In Blood which received high praise from around the world as the bands best work to date.
It’s their desire to improve which has lead to the band revisiting their past albums to select fan and personal favourites that will be fully re-recorded, with modern studio techniques and equipment.
These re-workings will be released as FREE downloads that will accompany brand new songs!

Segression will no longer record traditional full length albums and will move to release more frequent singles or batches of new songs to further their story.
The band will instead focus more on live shows and after 20 years, their energy and desire is unfaltering which has lead to some of their more recent shows being their best ever!
Their dynamic sound, energy and enthusiasm has to be witnessed first hand. Segression have always put their all into the live experience.

When asked to join their old friends Superheist who are returning to the live arena after a significant absence, Segression had no hesitation to jump onboard and show a new generation of heavy music fans
what audiences back in the late 90’s early 00’s witnessed but this time with more knowledge, power and ferocity!
