Melbourne rock three-piece, Tequila Mockingbyrd, are preparing to head over to the United Kingdom for an indefinite period of time, aiming to make the move from Melbourne (which over their three years since inception has seen the band take in an EP launch for T-Byrds Are Go!, tour many times across Australia, perform for the Australian Defence Force in the Middle-East, and so forth) to the UK and Europe. Whilst there, Tequila Mockingbyrd will kick off their 25-date “Aussie Wrecking Crew” tour, taking in shows across Europe and the UK alongside fellow local acts, Massive and Black Aces (from September 21 – October 20). Beyond that will see Tequila Mockingbyrd tour and play winter festivals such as Hard Rock Hell, and more.

Tequila Mockingbyrd have openly stated that they will be putting all their eggs into the one basket – selling items, and leaving jobs, their home, and other projects behind – so as to pursue this new venture and ensuring it stays.

Being currently unsigned and unmanaged, the trio are putting all of their own money into making their UK move work. To pull off this monumental trip and remain financially afloat, the ladies who form Tequila Mockingbyrd – Estelle Artois, Jess Reily, and Josie O’Toole – have pooled their resources and sorted estimates for costs. But the band need that extra pull to fund the remaining amount they’ve calculated they’d need.

As a result, Tequila Mockingbyrd have launched a Pozible campaign entitled ‘Flocking Off’ to support their move to the UK and to fund tour expenses, flights, accomodation, and so on, whilst there. Aiming to reach their targeted amount of AUD $7000, since launching the campaign yesterday, the band have already accumulated AUD $1980 from 26 backers (at time of posting). With 49 days left, the band have added a number of perks based on the amount paid.

An unreleased MP3, rare demos from the band’s early days, signed CD’s for their debut album, Fight and Flight, band socks, signed drum skins, a special English VIP package, and more will be on offer. Should you wish to support Tequila Mockingbyrd, you can feel free to pay as little or as much as you wish via the link below.

POZIBLE DESCRIPTION

So… after enjoying three fabulous years including an EP launch, countless tours, an adventure to the Middle East, an album launch bonanza and more late night post-gig macca’s runs than we care to admit, we are ready to depart Australian soil and spread our wings to foreign lands.

We’re kicking off with a twenty five date “Aussie Wrecking Crew” tour across Europe and the UK with our comrades Massive and The Black Aces, before settling in the UK for an indefinite period, where we’ll be touring and playing a few winter festivals including Hard Rock Hell.

We estimate costs of just the Wrecking Crew tour alone will amount to $18k+, which is a fair amount for three soon-to-be-unemployed Byrdies! We’re 100% independent at present – unsigned and unmanaged so we’ll be footing 100% of this bill upfront ourselves. We’re pooling our savings and selling off our worldly possessions to reach our goal but we’ll still probably have a gap of approximately $7k which is where we are hoping the rock-loving public of the world might be able to help us out…
We’ve got some exciting goodies up for grabs including rare bits and bobs from throughout the ages, merch packages, postcards from the road, even framed pieces of art! Hopefully something that will appeal to everyone who’d like to get on board and support this crazy trio on a mission to take the sweet sounds and smells of Melbourne Rock n Roll to the world!

How The Funds Will Be Used

All funds raised will go towards subsidising the significant costs associated with touring internationally. We estimate total costs for the “Aussie Wrecking Crew” tour alone to be in the region of $18-20k as the tour spans several countries across Europe/UK over a 5 week period.

We’re selling our worldly possessions and pooling our savings, which leaves us around $7k sort…

Here’s a rough breakdown of costs:

Flights to UK x 3 @ $800 each = $2400

Passport/Visa fees = $2000

Van/Trailer hire = $4500

Petrol/Tolls = $2500

Accommodation = $3600

Equipment purchase/hire = $2000

Insurance = $500

Food on the road ($10 each per day) = $900

The Challenges

As a totally independent unsigned and unmanaged band, we’re footing the bill for 100% of touring costs upfront so our main challenge will be financial.

We are leaving our jobs in order to do this tour, Estelle has deferred her Uni degree, Jess has even given up the house she was building, so we have really put everything on the line to do this! We just can’t say no to an opportunity like this, so we’ll do whatever we need to to make it work! 🙂
Thank you to every single person who has helped us along the way.

If you wish to see Tequila Mockingbyrd before they leave Australia, you can catch them on tour now playing select states until early August (as presented by Premier Artists).
