News : Chris Maric (Maric Media) Joins ‘Heavy Metal Truants IV’
For anyone working in the Australian music industry, specialising in rock/metal, Chris Maric is virtually a household name. The head of Maric Media, and Australian PR manager to some of the world’s biggest metal and rock labels and promoters (including Eleven Seven, Century Media, EVP, Metal Blade, Season Of Mist, Relapse, UDR; Live Nation, Destroy All Lines, Direct Touring, Wild Thing Presents, and a ton more), he also looks after a number of Aussie acts, from Melbourne’s King Parrot to Sydney’s Daemon Pyre, and so on.
Next month, Chris Maric will be headed out to Europe for the summer festival season, attending both the esteemed Download Festival in the UK and the behemoth that France’s is Hellfest – further where many of the bands he represents will be performing. Before the festivals begin, however, Chris will be undertaking the monumental task of cycling his way across London to Castle Donington & the Download Festival between June 8-10 as a part of the ‘Heavy Metal Truants’; a group which supports several different children’s charities, and is the world’s first Heavy Metal Charity Bicycle Ride.
The brainchild of Metal Hammer editor-in-chief Alexander Milas and Iron Maiden‘s manager Rod Smallwood, last year’s event alone raised the incredible sum of £72,000 GBP (AUD $142,000).
It’s three days, 162 miles and lots of metal! In short, it’s about the brother and sisterhood of Metal uniting around some very worthy causes – in this case, Nordoff Robbins, Teenage Cancer Trust, and Childline – to raise money for children who need it most.Chris will be joining a fantastic team of people from all across the music industry – agents, managers, promoters, other publicists, record labels, media organisations, and artists alike plus members of the public who have signed up for the gruelling challenge.
Chris Maric has set up a donation page is aiming to raise around AUD $2500 (£1300GBP) in support of these charities. If you wish to support Chris in this task, you can give as little or as much as you want via the link below:

Chris will also post updates along the way during his ride through his social media pages so you can see the pain in his body but the glory in his face.

It won’t be easy, but then nothing worthwhile ever is. There will be hills, heat, and hangovers, and Chris has been in training for weeks already to face the task ahead,The Heavy Metal Truants are convinced that if there’s any community out there who’ll answer the call to help kids in need, it’s people like you!
