Mitch Alexander Diu Lei Lo Mo 2016

Mitch Alexander, stand-up comedian and frontman to Eye of the Enemy (and further, occasional writer for Metal Obsession), has announced he will be hosting his own standup event, entitled Diu Lei Lo Mo (which sounds fancy and classy, but actually translates to something far different – we’ll let you guys Google that one yourselves!). The tour set for April will chronicle Mitch’s exploits and thoughts during his tour of Asia with Eye of the Enemy in the middle of 2015 in support of their latest album, ‘The Vengeance Paradox’. This tour saw them support Fleshgod Apocalypse, Psycroptic, and Ne Obliviscaris. Playing Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, and China, Eye of the Enemy had supported the aforementioned bands for the first three countries, and headlined the last two.

But, we’ll let Mitch explain it best, as he always does:

Ever wanted a white, 20-something, male, art graduate’s hot take on the customs, cultures and quirks of Asia? Well want no more! In the middle of 2015, heavy metal comedian and vocalist Mitch Alexander toured with his band Eye Of The Enemy across Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and China, supporting Fleshgod Apocalypse, Psycroptic and Ne Obliviscaris through the first three countries, and headlining the last two. Throughout, they were treated like absolute royalty, eating at high end restaurants, sleeping in five-star hotels, and having their most vacuous of whims attended to by long-suffering tour managers. So after this fortnight long culturally-illuminating trip, Mitch has appointed himself the foremost authority on the Asian experience, because of course he has, the jackass.

This hour of stand up comedy contains no moral lessons, no cathartic denouements, and no ideas on how to eradicate the poisonous assumptions of racial stereotypes that permeate the human condition. It does, however, contain plenty of brass and confronting jokes screamed into your face by a rather large vocalist-cum-comedian who doesn’t seem able to tone it down for just one fucking second.

Runner up at an inconsequential comedy competition in Brisbane during his first year of stand up, Mitch has been performing comedy across Australia for four long, inexplicable years, (dis)gracing the stages of music and comedy festivals alike, such as MICF, Melbourne Fringe, Adelaide Fringe, The Dead Of Winter, InvasionFest, and numerous clubs, pubs, and charity events. He’s also been asked to MC a few weddings, which has always been disastrous on account of the open bar.

Tickets to the show for review purposes can be obtained once a promise to publish no fewer than 5 stars has been signed and submitted in triplicate. If you’re from the Herald Sun you’re not invited. That last one’s not a joke.

Preview nights will be held between April 4 – 6, with the main tour kicking off from April 7 – 16. Tickets are available now via Try Booking, with Mitch even adding neat little parameters for punters to save money (it is as follows, below):

4 – 6 April 2016 (preview nights) – $15 or 2 for $20 if you have a band tattoo
7 – 16 April 2016 – $20 adult, $15 concession, $15 if you’re wearing a band shirt, 2 for $20 if you have a band tattoo or $15 per ticket for group bookings of 4 or more

There will be no shows on Sundays.
