News : King Parrot – Nominated for AMP award & set to finish off 2015 with show at The Crowbar

By on November 19, 2015

King Parrot are set to finish off their massive year in style.

After releasing their newest album ‘Dead Set’ to wide critical acclaim (with the album debuting at #21 on the ARIA chart), they then toured the US, Europe, and Australia multiple times over; they released a music video for “Like A Rat” with Phil Anselmo; guest programmed ABC’s Rage; been nominated for an Aria Award for best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal album; and now to add to this have just been nominated in the 11th Australia Music Prize.

The Australian Music Prize is an organization established to discover, reward and promote Australian music of excellence.
Each year an Australian artist or group of artists is awarded The Amp, receiving a cash prize in recognition of the outstanding creativity they exhibited based on an original album released in that year.
In 2008, the cash prize was increased to $30,000 thanks to principal partner PPCA. The Amp promotes the ‘album’ format.
The Amp was founded in the spirit of the UK’s prestigious Mercury Music Prize.
The Amp is unique in Australia – a critically judged award which honours contemporary Australian artists based on their creative excellence.
Any artist has the opportunity to be Shortlisted and potentially to win – regardless of record sales, genre, level of public recognition or record label affiliation.
The Amp aims to promote the health and growth of the local industry both within Australia and overseas.

The band will be wrapping up the year and sending in 2016 with a special New Years Eve party at The Crowbar, Brisbane. They’ll be joined by special guests F.U.C. Tickets are on sale now via Oztix.
