From the opening seconds of the lyric video below, it’s obvious that this is a zombie inspired song. Guitarist Paul Swanson has always been a fan of zombie stories, and says that he’s finally had a chance to put his longtime interest into a Blood Line song.

“The song takes a look into a apocalyptic world of the undead. Just on how everyone would cope in different ways. Basically doing what you have to do to survive and at what cost to your soul will your actions have. Zombie stories have always intrigued me and I finally got a chance to write lyrics down for this song.”

To make things more exciting, the band called on CJ McMahon of Thy Art Is Murder fame to deliver his powerful and recognisable growls in one section of the song.

“When we finished the track, there was an obvious part in the song where we thought we could use a guest vocalist to help add some exciting depth to the song. We reached out to CJ, sent him a guide of what we were after and he totally nailed it! His part really transformed the song and we’re stoked with it.”

Blood Line will be taking the rest of 2015 off to work on a brand new EP. But before that, they will be launching this single at The Tote in Collingwood this Saturday alongside a massive line-up, including Adelaide’s Arcadia and Tasmania’s Zeolite. Check out the flyer for the show below.

“Extinction” can be streamed below on YouTube, or downloaded from Blood Line’s Bandcamp.
