News : We Lost The Sea headlining Nicefest 2015

By on July 16, 2015

We’ve said it time and time again but Sydney-based Art As Catharsis Records are one of the most interesting record labels around. While the wildly varying genres they cover mean you’re not going to like every band they promote, it’s always something either totally out-there or the pinnacle of X style, and that’s what’s exciting. They just have a knack for finding talented musos.

And, like their roster, the lineup for the 2015 edition of Nicefest is a true musical smorgasbord, as explained by label owner/operator Lachlan R. Dale;

“I try to vary the line-up as much as possible. Not only do I think it’s exhausting to watch ten bands play exactly the same style, but I’d like this festival to be a place for people discover something new.”

“There are so many incredible bands paying a huge range of styles in Australia. My goal with Art As Catharsis has always been help people discover music that would otherwise go unnoticed.

The bands range from gypsy “chainsaw” folk (The Crooked Fiddle Band), to cinematic and instrumental (We Lost The Sea, Dumbsaint), to a string quartet featuring Sydney Symphony players (Chrodophones), to progressive metal (Serious Beak), rock (Captain Kickarse and the Awesomes) and the just plain bizarre (Facemeat)”

Nicefest 2015 takes place on Saturday August 29th at Hermann’s Bar in Sydney, with entry at the door for $25. The full lineup features We Lost The Sea, The Crooked Fiddle Band, Serious Beak, Dumbsaint, Chordophones, Captain Kickarse and the Awesomes, Brian Campeau, Facemeat, Hinterlandt Ensemble, Instrumental adj, and Hashshashin.
