News : Rise of Avernus release details and first single from “Dramatis Personæ”

By on February 26, 2015

“Acta Est Fabula”, the centrepiece on Rise of Avernus‘ new EP, has Enslaved‘s Grutle Kjellson on guest vocals, so you just know this is going to be good. You’ll have to wait another month to hear that track though.

Dramatis Personæ is the first material from the Sydneysiders featuring new keyboardist and female vocalist Mares Refalaeda, with five tracks over half an hour.

1. In The Absence Of Will…
2. Path To Shekinah
3. Acta Est Fabula (Feat. Grutle Kjellson of Enslaved)
4. An Alarum Of Fate
5. In Hope We Drown

“After releasing their critically acclaimed debut album, ‘L’appel du Vide,’ and touring around Australia in support of bands like Enslaved, Apocalyptica, Septicflesh, Rotting Christ, Fleshgod Apocalypse, and Prong, Rise of Avernus have chosen to release an EP that focuses on the heavier aspects that their debut album offered, while still maintaining the core doom and orchestral elements that the band has become renown for.

Recorded throughout January 2015, the EP was mixed and mastered by one of Australia’s top audio engineers, Dylan Mitrovich, who has worked with bands such as Dead Letter Circus, Tesseract, and Twelve Foot Ninja. The release also features a guest appearance by Grutle Kjellson, the vocalist of the legendary Norwegian band Enslaved, who lends his vocals to the track, “Acta Est Fabula.” Artwork was created by Farksi Photography, who handles many of the band’s designs, including the original self-titled release.”

The EP is set for digital release on March 30th through code666/Aural Music. Physical copies will be available on the same date for Europe, April 13th for Australia & Asia, and May 4th for North America.

The first single, “An Alarum of Fate” is currently streaming over at No Clean Singing.
