According to corporate registry documents obtained from ASIC (via theMusic.com.au), the Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne branches of the Melbourne-based company were placed into external administration on February 12.

As theMusic.com.au reports, a “source with knowledge of the matter” told them this:

The reason the company has been put into administration is due to a dispute between The Hi-Fi Group and the major creditor. As no resolution could be achieved between the two parties, the main creditor has placed the venues into external administration.

“As a result, the creditor has taken over the running of the venues and it will be business as usual for the foreseeable future.”

Due to the business now being run by an administrator – that being Simon Patrick Nelson of the Romanis Cant firm – current head office staff have been relieved of immediate duties.

With gigs at the Hi-Fi venues booked up until June with the likes of Psycroptic, Architects, New Found Glory, Seth Sentry, and a number of others already set for dates, whilst the future of the venue seems uncertain at this point, the Hi-Fi have kindly informed others that a “respected, original member of the Hi-Fi team” has been selected to stay on and ensure the business runs as usual, and all gigs go ahead smoothly.
