Yesterday saw the release of Northlane‘s new single ‘Rot’, their first single with new frontman Marcus Bridge. Premiered on Triple J’s ‘Good Nights’ with Linda Marigliano just last week, the single has received an overwhelming response all over the world (totaling more than 379,000 views for the official music video on YouTube at last count).

Bridge will play his first shows with Northlane this week in Europe on a huge run of dates supporting Parkway Drive, before returning home for the inaugural Unify Gathering in January. Northlane will then spend the end of January through to March in North America and Canada supporting August Burns Red.

Fuelled by the critical acclaim for 2013 sophomore album Singularity, Northlane toured the world twice over 18 months before coming home for a victorious sell-out tour in May / June. The album received glowing reviews and accolades around the world, including J Award and ARIA Award nominations, and #1 spots in Short Fast Loud, Blunt Magazine and The Racket end of year polls.
However, during a five month rest and writing break, frontman Adrian Fitipaldes left the band citing mental and physical exhaustion, prompting an open audition process which began in September. The band spent weeks painstakingly trawling through submissions; Marcus’ video – which is still on YouTube having amassed tens of thousands of views – grabbed their attention and his talent, ideas and attitude made him a natural fit.
After the Parkway Drive tour, the band will head home to play the massive sold out UNIFY Gathering in Victoria. Eleven days later they will embark on a six week tour of North America with August Burns Red before settling down in New Jersey to record their third album with Will Putney.

With ‘Rot’ being produced via Skype with their long-time collaborator Will Putney, the album was written and recorded by the whole band. After a gruelling audition process for a new vocalist following Fitipaldes’ leave, out of the almost 2000 people that had applied, the spot was granted to the 23 year old from Sydney. This tour will be Bridge’s first and will see Northlane join Parkway Drive for a massive 21 shows across 21 consecutive days in Europe.
The band had issued a statement earlier declaring “We are proud to welcome Marcus Bridge to the Northlane family as our new vocalist” and that they “[couldn’t] express enough just how proud we are of Marcus, and how stoked we are to be making music with him.”
