News : Van Canto touring Australia in 2015 (sort of)
German a cappella metal sensation Van Canto (famous for infusing classic heavy, power and symphonic metal influences, creating what they call “hero metal a cappella”) will make their debut live appearance in Australia next year.
The Festival of Voices will be hosting a workshop in Hobart, Tasmania from July 3rd til July 12th, showcasing various singers from Australia and around the world. Singers of all ages and abilities will have the rare opportunity to work, learn and perform with Van Canto over six incredible days of workshop and concert for a singing experience that will stay with them forever.
When we started Van Canto in 2006 we never thought that singing a cappella would bring us to the other side of the world! We are sure this will be another highlight in the band’s history and hopefully a good choice for all festival visitors. – Stefan Schmidt
Take note. Five singers, one drummer. No guitars, no bass, no keyboards…expect an unbelievable melodic metal experience. Don’t miss your chance to learn and work alongside one of Germany’s biggest metal sensations.
Bands, singers, songwriters and choirs are urged to attend this once in a lifetime experience.
A full list of Australian tour dates will be announced soon. In the mean time, register your details at the Festival of Voice website and secure your spot. Follow the band via their official Facebook page.
WORKSHOP REGISTRATIONS NOW OPEN AT WWW.FESTIVALOFVOICES.COM
Early rate available until March 13, 2015 // *Suitable for singers of all abilities, 16 +
Making their Australian debut for the Festival of Voices in July 2015, VAN CANTO are quite simply unlike any a cappella group you would have heard. VAN CANTO have melded the oldest form of music, the voice, with heavy metal and the result is astonishing. Their vocal talent and ear for harmonies is impeccable and their approach to a cappella is unique and inspiring. Their music is powerful, anthemic and contemporary. There is a rich deepness to their sound that sets them apart and gives them an ancient feel in many ways.
Next July, thousands of choristers will descend on Hobart, Tasmania to perform and participate in the 2015 Festival of Voices, Australia’s premier celebration of the human
voice. Transforming Hobart into a Singing City, expect a magnificent 10-day program of performances, community events and – uniquely – workshops run by the artists. Singers of all ages and abilities will have the rare opportunity to work, learn and perform with VAN CANTO over six incredible days of workshop and concert for a singing experience that will stay with them forever.VAN CANTO began their careers as a conventional metal band, but their desire to do something more vocal orientated inspired their transformation into the world’s first a cappella metal band.
Their success has swept through the European festival scene. Since 2006 they have recorded 5 studio albums, mixing covers and originals, toured Europe and beyond, and performed at festivals in front of tens of thousands of people. In its eleventh year, the Festival welcomes individual singers, choirs and music lovers from across Australia, as Hobart is transformed into a Singing City.
