News : Pre-orders and the first (half) song from the new Vaiya album

By on August 6, 2014

For those not familiar with Vaiya, it’s the solo project of Encircling Sea guitarist & vocalist Rob Allen. Previous release have sat on the very ambient side of black metal (which you can download for free on Bandcamp), as the press release below mentions, but the first bit of new material from the forthcoming album Remnant Light sounds is definitely on the blacker, metaller side of the genre and it’s sounding super promising.

“Vaiya’s third album ‘Remnant Light’ is an aggressive ritual banishment of the darkest aspects of the ego. A progression upward toward the light and away from that which drags us down. Told through three thirteen minute tracks, ‘Remnant Light’ seeks to exalt the journey toward bliss and repel the darkness that aims to destroy true being.

This album is a more straight forward Black Metal record than the two previous Vaiya releases, which were written specifically for live ritual performance, thus, there is more emphasis put on dense atmosphere and and layered instrumentation.”

Physical copies are keeping with Natural World Records’ goal of limited edition, specially crafted releases, being just 50 copies in a silk screened black envelope with four inserts made up of mounted photos on silk screened cards. Get in quick over on their Bigcartel page.
