Cherry Bar

The Cherry Bar on AC/DC Lane, Melbourne is an icon of rock ‘n’ roll in Australia, yet with the sad advent of big business that has already led to the closing of such celebrated venues as The Palace Theatre, and many more, it has meant much of our live scene has been forcibly taken away from us. An that brings in a great deal of revenue annually.

And now, due to noise complaints from new residents who have moved into the area, it seems Cherry Bar is next on their hit-list.

In response, James Young, owner of the Cherry Bay, have organised a crowdfunding campaign via PledgeMusic to help save this iconic venue by installing an “elaborate sound-proofing procedure” to upgrade and save the venue. Naturally, however, this is an expensive ordeal. The Cherry have already invested a “small fortune” to make them compliant to the new rules set in place that allow them to stay. But they need your help to properly fund and finish proceedings.

With already 775 pledgers and climbing behind them, now is your chance to help end this assault on live music that is ruining Australia’s live scene. With your help, we can save Australia’s all too important music community.

With a number of rewards on offer, to pledge whatever amount you see fit, head on over to the ‘Save Cherry’ link here.
