News : Hell On The Bay II: Judgment Bay – Line up announcement #1

By on April 13, 2014

After the huge success of the Brimstone Bookings event in 2013, Hell On The Bay festival is returning to Melbourne this September for its second installment; ‘Judgment Bay’. For those unaware, Hell On The Bay is a mini-festival being held on the Victoria Star Cruise Ship at the Central Pier in Docklands. It takes place on the 6th of September, and tickets will go on sale in early May.
The first installment of the festival in 2013 was a sold out event headlined by Psycroptic, with Ne ObliviscarisHybrid Nightmares and Orpheus Omega supporting.

Brimstone Bookings have given Metal Obsession the privilege to exclusively announce the line up for this 5-band mini-festival. We will be announcing one band on the line up every Sunday at 12:00pm.

Of course, this is excluding the band that has already been announced for the past month, which is none other than Melbourne’s returning thrash metal quartet, Demolition. The band will be coming off of a near three-year hiatus to play this gig. Brimstone Bookings promoter Michael Gumley comments:

“When Loki and myself were discussing how to top last years lineup I jokingly suggested we should get Demolition to do a reunion show and catch everybody off guard. We dismissed this as a joke but literally two days later Demolition frontman Rick Linguroski appeared out of the blue and liked the HOTB Facebook page… it was fate. A quick phone call and we had secured one of the fastest, loudest and most aggressive bands ever to have thrashed. These guys are back with a vengeance and will be one of the highlights of this years event.”

The next band announced for Hell On The Bay II is the epic Melbourne power metal group Bane of Winterstorm. Their latest album ‘The Last Sons of Perylin’ was featured in not just one, but two “best albums of 2013” lists on Metal Obsession.

“Bane of Winterstorm are one of Melbourne’s and indeed Australia’s biggest and most exciting power metal acts. They seemingly came from obscurity and exploded back into the local metal scene with the release of an absolute world class album, ‘The Last Sons of Perylin’, and an equally powerful live show to match it. I am very happy to have them play HOTB this year.” – Brimstone Bookings

“If the metal community were ever awaiting an example of symphonic music hewn from the mind of musical genius to forge an aural experience as epic as its own lyrical content, then this band is the answer. The Last Sons of Perilyn is phenomenal, and Bane of Winterstorm have forged a symphonic, metallic force to be reckoned with, and one that can rightfully stand alongside the European acts its origins are so deeply rooted in.” – Metal Obsession (read review here)
