News : Melbourne metal venue under threat

By on November 25, 2013

The Bendigo Hotel on Johnston Street in Collingwood is another of Melbourne’s music venues under threat of being closed down due to noise complaints.

In this case, the complaint came from an individual, who moved into the area in March of this year. This individual begun contacting police authorities and the local Council a month later regarding the noise coming from the venue. However, supportive letters from businesses and residents say the pub’s noise is no problem at all.

On Tuesday, 26th November the venue will attend a hearing at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal to hopefully resolve the issue with the disgruntled individual.

The owners of the music venue, Guy and Tiffany Palermo have posted an online petition for regulars and music lovers alike to sign and help the venue stay in business. Currently there are over 3,200 signatures, but venue requires another 1,800 to solidify the importance of the venue to the local live music scene and help protect live music venues in the area.

The venue has been a huge supporter of hard and heavy music, playing host to a plethora of local and international metal tours.
