News : DEAD release remix album ahead of US tour

By on July 29, 2013

“When we were making our first album we floated the idea of doing multiple mixes/versions of most of the songs we recorded. And then release twin versions of the LP. You know kinda like how Godflesh did?

We soon learned our recording budget did not allow for anything as time consuming as this.

Then we thought maybe we could give the multi track files of these songs to bands/artists who we really respect to re-mix/re-work how they see fit. Which turned out to be a better idea. We’re lucky enough to know a lot of highly talented and diverse artists who were kind enough to indulge us with their involvement in this project. It was a lot of fun and we can’t thank them enough for giving up their time for us.”

And what a remix album it is. DEAD‘s music might not initially sound like the sort of thing that would lend itself to remixes, but it certainly does. The whole thing is available for name-your-price download, or on individually cut vinyl records, over at Bandcamp.

On the topic of vinyls, the band are due to hit the US soon to play the 12th annual Total Fest alongside Red Fang, Thrones, Gay Witch Abortion and more, which obviously costs some dollars. To cover travel costs, DEAD are offering a few special items for sale, including test pressings over their last full length album Idiots, as well as a things from Jem’s personal record stash.

If anybody from the US happens to find this article, this is where you can catch them live;
