News : The end of Futility

By on April 22, 2013

With six years under their belts, Canberra doom band Futility have come to an end. The lack of activity over the last few months means it’s not exactly a surprise, but it’s still a real shame. Especially considering the leap in quality from their debut to their 2012 release The View From Here.

The album is still available over on their Bandcamp page until the remaining sell out, so if you were ever going to buy a copy, now is the time.

Here’s the official word from the band, as posted on their Facebook account:

“Many of you may have already gathered that Futility is no longer a going concern. There are still some cds available and somewhere there are a few t-shirts left. When I find them I’ll post what sizes are available and maybe give them away or something.

Duncan and Nafe have gone on to form the grind machine that is Wretch. Brendan has disappeared into suburban domesticity and I am more focussed on recording other bands. I would like to imagine that there may be more Futility in some form in the future but I wouldn’t bank on it.

Thanks for your interest in our music.

Kurt”
