News : The ARIA nominations are in…

By on October 3, 2012

…and now is the time where 99% of metalheads rage relentlessly via their keyboards (and no doubt in person, after a beer or two) about how none of the nominees are real metal and all that stuff. But regardless, the nominees are in.

Buried In Verona and House Vs Hurricane aren’t exactly surprises. It would’ve been more surprising if they WEREN’T included, really. But, on behalf of pretty much everybody involved in this website, kudos to sleepmakeswaves for making the list. For those that don’t know them: no, they’re not metal, but they’re fantastic. That band just keeps going from strength to strength, and it’s brilliant to see them receiving more and more recognition as time goes on. And if the new tracks that they have been showcasing live lately are any indication, they’ll only go higher.

The nominees for “Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album” are:
Buried In Verona  – Notorious (UNFD/Warner)
DZ Deathrays – Bloodstreams (I OH YOU/Illusive Sounds)
Frenzal Rhomb – Smoko at the Pet Food Factory (How much did I fucking pay for this records?)
House Vs Hurricane – Crooked Teeth (UNFD/Warner)
sleepmakeswaves – …and so we destroyed everything (Birds Robe Records/GREEN)

The rest of the categories and nominations can be seen over at themusic.com.au

If you could nominate one album to make the list this year, who would it be? Let us know in the comments below.
