News : The new Dumbsaint single is post-awesome

By on February 5, 2012

Breaking away from the brvtal metalz for a little bit; Sydney-based instrumental trio Dumbsaint aren’t too far away from releasing their debut album Something That You Feel Will Find Its Own Form, and have just released the first single titled “Don’t Forget To Bring Down The Sky”. On Feb 14th, a short film will be released as a free download to accompany the soaring epic. In the meantime, you can stream the new single over here.

The band are launching the single on Friday Feb 17th alongside Kasha, Solkyri and the amazing sleepmakeswaves at the Gaelic Theatre in Sydney.

And there’s a bit of a teaser video at the bottom of the post.

“Drawing parallels to artists such as ISIS, Russian Circles and Tool, Dumbsaint’s layered instrumental sound is a considerably darker and more technical approach to the conventions of the ‘post-rock’ genre. Drummer Nick Andrews, guitarist Ron Prince (Adrift for Days) and bass guitarist James Thomas have successfully created their own unique blend of heavy, progressive and ambient sound, with engaging melodies, which is showcased in this single release.

The band has developed a strong local following playing alongside numerous local and international acts including; Sleep Parade, Sydonia, Tangled Thoughts Of Leaving, and Headphones President (JPN). Well respected for their attention to detail, and ability to produce a sound that is deceivingly larger than a three piece, they have won numerous awards with Andrews most recently winning Most Outstanding Drummer 2011 at the annual Noisies Alternative Music Awards.

In November 2011 Dumbsaint entered Studio 301 with Producer Tim Carr to record their music and first album to date after 6 years on the live scene. Their debut LP Something That You Feel Will Find Its Own Form is scheduled to release in April

Dumbsaint have become well known for their use of original, synched screen projections in live performance and this single package is designed to bridge the gap between their multi-media live experience and their first studio release.”
