News : DEAD hitting the road with Japan’s Cyberne

By on October 15, 2011

In support of their debut LP THUNDAAAAAH!, two piece DEAD are hitting the road at the end of the month alongside Japanese “aggressive psycho rhythm four piece” Cyberne.

“Released on LP/Digital via their own label WeEmptyRooms, the band [DEAD] has already toured South East Asia and USA extensively to promote the albums regional release on LP (WantageUSA) and Cassette (Ricecooker). The LP comes with hand screened artwork, assembled over many hours by the band at WeEmptyRooms HQ; Jem’s bathroom. DEAD features members of Fire Witch, Inappropriate Tough Guy Behaviour and Fangs of… Despite this handicap they’ve managed to pick up some fans and sell records across the world.

Their U.S tour with Unstoppable Death Machines saw them play 30 dates right across the country including shows with Hammerhead, Vaz, Gay Witch Abortion, Hex Machine, and label mates Big Business, White Shit, Pygmy Shrews and Japanther. All those bands were great but DEAD are better.

Japanese “Aggressive Psycho Rhythm” 4 piece Cyberne are hitting Australian shores for the first time. It’s been a long time coming. In 2007 Jem (DEAD/WeEmptyRooms) toured Japan as drummer for Fire Witch. That tour saw them play with some exceptional live acts including Ryokuchi, Corrupted, Birushanah, Church Of Misery, Coffins, Realized….the list goes on. One band stood out above these for sheer live intensity and an ability to dance and execute extreme riffs simultaneously. Before Cyberne had finished their first song it was clear the band had to tour Australia.

To the uninitiated the Cyberne sound is somewhat like The Jesus Lizard on steroids, speed and acid simultaneously. But essentially this description falls so far short of the full story and one can only rectify this by witnessing them live and in the flesh. A Cyberne live show grabs you by the short and curlies and reminds you just why you fell in love with live music in the first place.

WeEmptyRooms, in collaboration with fellow DIY promoters across the country have put together a tour that’s gonna piss most people off and make a few people salivate with anticipation. As much an opportunity for Aussies to catch one of Japan’s most exciting live bands as it is for the band in question to see some of Australia’s greatest current underground acts. This will be the tenth Australian tour featuring a Japanese act presented by WeEmptyRooms. Punters who bore witness to previous tours can attest to the consistently intense and powerful shows put on by bands from this stable.”
