News : The Amity Affliction sign to Roadrunner Records + new tour dates

By on September 22, 2011

Brisbane’s The Amity Affliction have announced they’re now officially apart of the Roadrunner Records family.

The band’s debut album ‘Youngbloods’ will receive the royal treatment with a new digipak release. This new release will include bonus tracks, artwork, new liner notes and a DVD to boot, and will be in stores from September 30th.

Press release:

Roadrunner Records is pleased to announce the signing of The Amity Affliction, world-wide. Easily one of the most head-turning and exciting post-hardcore bands of recent years, the band will head back  into the studio in early 2012 to record the follow up with Youngbloods producer Machine (Lamb of God, Cobra Starship, Suicide Silence.

The Amity Affliction’s humble origins date back to six years ago in a small town in Queensland.  With an industrial sized bucket of elbow grease, the band became a fixture on the local touring circuit.  The Amity Affliction quickly ascended the ranks and became one of Australia’s best-loved live bands. Armed with cheeky song titles, a party attitude and the type of aggressive and forward- thinking metal that will simultaneously make you think while putting hair on your chest!

“Ever since I can remember in Amity we’ve been dreaming big: big tours, big shows, big crowds, but never in our wildest dreams did we ever think something this big would come around,” frontman Joel Birch said. “Signing to Roadrunner worldwide is almost beyond a dream come true, because there’s no way any of us would have ever dreamed of being able to achieve something this monumental.”

Birch continued, “We’re proud to be added to such an incredible roster of bands, and having already spent time with some of the team at the label, we’re excited to become a part of the larger Roadrunner family. This is a massive step forward for us as a band, and one we’re going to be pouring all our energy into in the future.”

The band’s most recent album Youngbloods debuted at #6 on the ARIA Charts and was nominated for Best Hard Rock Performance at both the ARIA and AIR Awards. Youngbloods was also voted Best Album of 2011 on Triple J’s Short Fast Loud program and in Blunt Magazine, where – with the forthcoming October issue –  they will have notched their third cover in 18 months.

In addition to their headlining Australian tour this October, from October 23 – November 5, the band will be touring UK and Europe with a US tour from November 8 – December 16. Now it’s time for the rest of the world to catch on…

A Youngbloods Deluxe Edition featuring bonus tracks, DVD, extra artwork and liner notes will be in stores September 30 via UNFD.
