News : Metal at the Sydney Underground Film Festival (and some free tickets)

By on August 29, 2011

Every now and then you find metal in an unexpected place, and this time, it’s the Sydney Underground Film Festival. This year’s festival, taking place from the 8th til 11th of September features, amongst other fantastic film, the following two which are bound to appeal to any metal fans;

Heavy Metal Picnic – Dir. Jeff Krulik (screens with cult classic Heavy Metal Parking Lot)
Jeff Krulik, the man responsible for one of the most legendary underground videos of the 80s and 90s, Heavy Metal Parking Lot, returns with a new film! Krulik’s latest offering, Heavy Metal Picnic, is a celebration of more heavy metal madness that focuses on the 1985 Full Moon Jamboree in Maryland USA – the farm party to end all farm parties.

Last Days Here – Dir. Don Argott and Demian Fenton
In the basement of his parents’ house in suburban Maryland lives Bobby Liebling, former vocalist with 1970s cult legends, Pentagram. Last Days Here offers a fascinating portrait of the vocalist, the legendary band and the fans who long to see Pentagram get the recognition they deserve.

And thanks to the lovely people over at the festival, we have double passes for each show to giveaway. For your chance to win, simply chuck an email to stefanie(at)suff(dot)com(dot)au with the title of the film you’d like to see most followed by “Metal Obsession” in the title.

As if that’s not enough already, head over to the Factory Theatre website  before September 1st, and purchase a ticket to either show with the promo code “Maryland” for Heavy Metal Picnic or “Pentagram” for Last Days Here, and you’ll get tickets for a bargain $10.
