News : Vulvagun set to release "Cold Moon Over Babylon"

By on March 23, 2011

New Melbourne-based heavy metal band Vulvagun, featuring members of Black Majesty, Wizard Sleeve and Taramis, have set May 20th as the release date of their debut album Cold Moon Over Babylon. The 12 track release is based around the mythical Lesser Key of Solomon, an ancient text that was interpreted and used by the renaissance scholars to warn of the dangers of demon worship and associated dark arts.

Recorded and produced by Wayne Dwyer and Orbit Studios, the album features “elements of thrash, progressive and classic metal that will infect your imagination and rip your head off”, and will be available digitally on iTunes and physically from http://www.myspace.com/vulvagun

“Wayne, Chris, George and Evan have all know each other for over 20 years and have each played in bands with one another – but this is the first time they have actually all been in the same outfit. It’s a combination that was destined to happen, and one that (somewhat predictably) promises to be nothing less that innovative, traditional, Heavy as buggery and true to the influences that make all great Metal bands memorable.

The debut album from Vulvagun was produced, recorded and mixed by Wayne Dwyer. The album was delayed for several months as both George and Wayne recovered from injuries; in June 2010 Wayne broke his left wrist in a car ‘mishap’, and two weeks later George broke his left thumb which required surgery. They both recovered in time to record most of their guitar parts over the last few months of 2010 and throughout January of 2011. Evan took time off between stints in the studio with ‘Black Majesty’ and ‘Eyefear’ to work on his tracks for Cold Moon Over Babylon. The mixing of the album has been delayed by recent flooding in Victoria (Australia), but now that a firm release date has been announced, Vulvagun are looking forward to the future and hope you enjoy the Metal!”
