News : Double Dragon album details/new members announced

By on October 17, 2010

Adelaide’s Double Dragon have announced details surrounded their second full length album, titled ‘The Sons of Asena‘, due out sometime in 2011. Also announced was the bands recruitment of two new members – bass guitarist Josh Lamort (A Red Dawn), and drummer Liam Weedall (Asphyxia, Sonic Euphoria). Guitarist Matthew ‘Roady’ Johnston commented…

We’re extremely excited to get back out there with the new boys and show everyone exactly what we’ve been up to for the past couple of months. Josh has been a long time friend of the band, has filled in for us several times in the past, and we couldn’t be happier to finally have him on board as a full time member. As for Liam, he’s only 19 years old, but don’t let that fool you – he’s a phenomonal musician who’s blowing everyone that sees him play away, especially us!

This week, the band are set to take part in the Adelaide leg of Swedish band Soilwork’s Australian tour before travelling to Melbourne to perform at the Trash Halloween Party at Casey’s Nightclub, followed by supports for Mortal Sin and Lord back in Adelaide later in the year.

The band also anticipate entering Adelaide’s Against The Grain studios in November/December this year to record the follow up to their 2008 debut album ‘Devastator’, which we can now announce will be titled ‘The Sons of Asena‘. The new record will feature ten tracks which incorporate a different range of influences to the band’s previous work, whilst still retaining the same characteristic Double Dragon sound.

Vocalist Lee Gardiner had this to say about the new album…

We have let our collective imaginations run wild for this album. No stone has been left unturned with these songs, and this is perhaps the most exciting part – for the first time we’ve had the balls to follow our instincts and follow them through. Whether it be with the hiring of our new members, the newfound ambition we feel, or the strength of the songs themselves. As a creative person, it’s a very exciting time to be in this band.

Following the completion of the new album, the band (who are currently unsigned) will be looking for a release both in Australia and worldwide, with international touring also firmly in their sights for 2011. For more information please visit www.reverbnation.com/doubledragonheavymetal.
