News : Ronnie James Dio 1942 – 2010

By on May 17, 2010

Today the world is mourning the lost of a living legend. Ronnie James Dio, one of heavy metal’s all time greatest singers and a five decade veteran of rock and metal, died early Sunday morning  (May 16th, 7:45am) after his grueling one year battle with stomach cancer. The sad news of his death was originally posted the day before, but was then later reveled as a hoax by Dio’s wife, Wendy. We can now confirm that Dio’s passing is in fact true. He was 67 years old.

Wendy Dio, posted this message on the official Dio website.

Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever.
