News : A State Of Flux launching new album in June

By on May 4, 2010

They might not be entirely metal but you know what, we’re open minded here at Metal Obsession, and A State Of Flux are pretty bloody cool. The Melbourne art-rock band will be launching their debut full-length album, titled ‘Reflux’, at the Evelyn Hotel on June 12th.

“Supported by some of the country’s finest electronic/rock artists and wielding an incendiary, cinematic live show described as a “sensory experience”, this is definitely a night not to be missed.

A highly ambitious and exciting project, ‘Reflux’ contains remixes and re-interpretations of songs off the band’s self-titled EP performed by some of Australia’s most talented electronic and experimental artists. Producer Red Black presents a collection of songs ranging from industrial bombast to A cappella vocal harmonies and everything in between.

Original and genre-defying, A State of Flux have received much acclaim over the years for their blending of progressive/art-rock elements with world, electronic and ambient genres. The resulting sound has been said to lie somewhere between Massive Attack, Nine Inch Nails, Kate Bush and Dead Can Dance. A State of Flux have shared some of the country’s best stages with well known and respected groups including Dead Letter Circus, Jerrico, K-Oscillate, Hinge, Sleep Parade, Long Walk Home and Mushroom Giant.

The Melbourne launch of “Reflux” will be the first of many shows as the band embarks upon their highly anticipated national tour.

Tickets for the launch show are $12 at the door, and the first 50 people through the door will receive a free copy of the bands debut single “Surface Tension”. We’ll have reviews of the new album, and the previous EP, up on the site soon.
