News : Double Dragon post album update

By on January 3, 2009

Adelaide, Australia’s Double Dragon have already started work on their follow up too their debut album “Devastator” , five months after Devastators release, and with major labels knocking at the Adelaide quintet’s door, DD has wasted no time at all in taking the next steps of their metal career. After spending this year touring Australia as a headline act pushing DEVASTATOR and touring as main support for SOILWORK, CARCASS and THE HAUNTED and with new guitarist Davin Buttery (A Red Dawn) fitting in beautifully on lead guitar, Double Dragon have decided the best thing to do to ‘keep the ball moving’ is too not waste any time and start recording immediately.

Vocalist Lee Gardiner states – “After touring with some of our direct influences this year, getting to know them as people, their influences, and having some of our favorite musicians getting to know our music and offer advice regarding the development of our sound AND with our new guitarist Davin bringing another dimension to the song writing process, it naturally brought a general excitement back into the band that has MADE us want to write, MADE us want to record immediately as we feel we are now armed with so many more ‘weapons’ so to speak in our song writing arsenal.”

“After touring with The Haunted and witnessing how down to earth they are as people , how much integrity they bring too the stage night after night really lifted the band spirits. As far as the new songs, we started on the guitar tracks on the weekend, this time around, we are really trying to write that 90’s thrash album paying homage to the forefathers of the metal we play, Slayer, Pantera, Old School Machine head, even the Black Album Metallica… we really want too tap into the songs we were listening, loving, ruining our lives too when we were teenagers, and trying to recreate that energy for the young kids today. I mean sure there’s loads of metal bands doing there thing at the moment, but most of em are barely out of high school, ya know we are all getting on in age now, im fucken 28 years old this year and within the band we feel we need to show these young bucks what it was like to grow up when our favorite bands, Pantera, Metallica, Machine Head, Seputura, Faith No More etc when we were 16 year old little piss ants ourselves. All I see these days from bands is a race to be the most technical, brutal fastest or whatever.”

“What we want is too capture that ‘FUCK YOU’ attitude from the 90’s, ya know, when you heard “Regular People” for the first time, that fear when you heard it.. sure that wasnt the most brutal song ever but fuck me it kicked your fucken ass from first riff to last.. hell we studied these songs for over ten years now and we feel after 200 or so live shows we now have the balls to make the album we have wanted to make since we were 16 years old.”

The album so far is tentatively titled “Blood” with all songs based around the subject title.
