News : Sclera go on hiatus

By on April 13, 2008

ht.jpgMelbourne-based experimental death metal band Sclera are going on hiatus due to creative differences. The future of Sclera is unknown for now, as explained in the following press release from the band

“Unfortunately, Sclera has come to a situation that is threatening the continuation of the band. This has been an unforeseen development at this time. We have strived to create something unique and different from the norm but in the end it appears what threatens this band’s well being is creative differences in the direction this band is headed musically.

This band has been plagued with issues since the beginning as far as members go but we have always tried to fight our way through and not let it distract us from our overall goal, which appears to be no longer shared between it’s founding members. Since our last update the band had acquired a new drummer; Dean Turner (ex-Infinite Regression) who had brought a new approach not yet explored by our previous drummers. We were rehearsing and composing in a way we never have before and were aiming to be gigging again by mid-year. We had finally found a drummer who matched our level of extremity and dedication behind the kit. It saddens us that the band is heading into an inevitable hiatus at such an exciting time which in the end is entirely out of our hands. This band has been the heart and soul which we shared from the beginning for the last 7 years and it has fell apart in what seems like an instance due to views within the band which go against the very nature in which it was created.

We will be uploading 2 of our recently recorded demo’s for the tracks “Through the Heavenly Seas” and “Inform the Gods there will be Blood” to give people an idea of what we were trying to achieve. We would love to hear peoples comments and opinions.

The future of Sclera is completely up in the air but we hope that this hiatus does not last forever.

We are no longer an active band.

Give us hope.

Ben + Dean / Sclera”
